St. Theresa B.M.V. which was founded in 1924 with few catholic students, is the only girls school in the area.At present the school consists of nearly 1000 students.The school is rich with 50 acedemic staff and 5 non-acedemic staff. Multy culrural and multi religious(Buddhism and Catholic)combination that exsists from the beginning is a rematkable quality that makes the school unic in the area. it is visible that the students are in the process of intergrating curricular and co- curricular activities with enthusiasm. The school belong to 1AB category.There are 3 parallel classes in each grade from grade 6-13.Art, commerce and science are the sections we have in A/L classes.

The school is situated in an agricultural area.Moes of the villages are farmers. They are engaged mainly in cultivating cinnamon, tea and rubber.the farmers depend on daily wages. most of the children who attend the school are from such families.Although the students show many capabilities in many areas in educational levels, most of them face a lot of economical problems. this is an issue that we have to pay our attention.
